About the TFEP

Traders from developing and developed countries frequently highlight bureaucratic delays and other hindrances when moving goods across borders. In response, members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) crafted the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), which entered into force on February 22, 2017 after the ratification of two-thirds of the 164 WTO member states. The TFA contains articles and provisions for expediting the movement, release, and clearance of goods, including goods in transit. It also sets out measures for effective cooperation between customs and other appropriate authorities on trade facilitation and customs compliance.

Under the TFA Article 1, publication and availability of information, each WTO member must establish or maintain at least one enquiry point at the national level to provide easily accessible, precise, and complete information in a timely and cost-effective way to WTO member governments, traders, and other interested parties on matters covered by Article 1.1 and to provide the required forms and documents. Ghana accordingly has established an official Trade Facilitation Enquiry Point to ensure both the Ghanaian and international trading community have access to current and accurate trade information.
