Industrial Parks and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are a key pillar of Government’s
Industrialisation Agenda to improve access to land, utilities and business support services for
the private sector. Under the Ghana Economic Transformation Project, the Ministry of Trade
and Industry has initiated the process of developing a policy framework, regulatory mechanism
and institutional structure to support the establishment of Industrial Parks and Special
Economic Zones in the country.
1. Parameter and Boundary Survey of the Greater Kumasi Industrial City and Special
Economic Zone covering Onye, Boankra and Abenase lands has been completed.
2. Proprietary study for the Greater Kumasi Industrial City and Special Economic Zone
covering Onye, Boankra and Abenase lands has been completed by landowners for the
purpose of land valuation.
3. The process of selecting contractors for the conduct of Environmental Safeguard Study
and Benchmarking Study for the Greater Kumasi Industrial City and Special Economic
Zone is near completion.
4. Construction works including roads and fence wall at Tema Export Processing Zone under
the Ghana Economic Transformation (GET) Project will commence before the end of the
year.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry will facilitate the acquisition of land for the springing up of these industrial parks nationwide. These parks will be Free Zone enclaves with access to reliable energy supply
