Born on 9th December 1958, Mr. Dawarnoba Beaka holds an MBA (Specialization in Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy) from Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands.
He completed first degree at the University of Ghana, Legon in 1980 with a BA (Hons) in Sociology. He obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship at the Netherlands International Institute for Management, Delft in 1988.
In 1995 he studied Enterprise Restructuring and Privatisation: The Management Perspective, at the East and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) in Arusha, Tanzania. He also undertook Senior Management Course in Small Business at Nagoya, Japan in 1998.
Mr Baeka obtained his MBA from Maastricht School of Management, in the Netherlands, in 1999, where he specialized in Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy. This was followed by other courses such as Strategic Management at GIMPA, Ghana in 2004; Small Business Promotion in Kitakyishu, Japan in 2005; and Strategic Performance Management at the University of Stellenbosch Business School in Cape Town, South Africa in 2005.
Mr Baeka did his National Service at St. Francis Girls Secondary School at Jirapa, in the Upper West Region from September 1980 to June 1981. He started work as an Insurance Underwriter with Great African Insurance Company in June 1981. His long public service career began in February 1982 with the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) as Assistant Project Officer.
He worked in many regions and rose through the ranks and handled several middle level managerial positions. He was promoted to the rank of Director in 2000 and he became the Director for Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PPME) at the NBSSI Head Office in March 2003.
He served in various capacities including being trainer of trainers from African countries for the implementation of Base of Pyramid Approach of Technopreneurship (BOPAT) in 2006. He rose again to the position of Deputy Executive Director of NBSSI in September 2010.
With over thirty years experience in public sector policy and management, Mr. Baeka was appointed Acting Chief Director of Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) in December, 2013 and confirmed as the substantive Chief Director of Ministry in April 2014.
